Feeling the love! Duchess Kate and Prince William thanked everyone, including the hospital staff, for their “warm wishes” in a new statement after welcoming their third child together, a baby boy, on Monday, April 23.
“Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge will be leaving St. Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, London this evening. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their son will travel home to Kensington Palace,” the palace said in a statement on Monday, shortly before William and Kate stepped out with the new prince. “Their Royal Highnesses would like to thank all staff at the hospital for the care and treatment they have received. They would also like to thank everyone for their warm wishes.”
The palace added that “Prince George and Princess Charlotte have now returned to Kensington Palace” after their visit to the hospital to meet their baby brother.
Kensington Palace previously announced in a statement on Monday that Kate, 36, gave birth to an 8 pound, 7 ounce baby boy at St. Mary’s Hospital in London. Per royal protocol, the arrival of the new prince was also announced outside Buckingham Palace.
“Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 11:01 a.m. today. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well,” the announcement, which was signed by four members of St. Mary’s medical staff, read.
Town crier Tony Appleton helped spread the happy news outside the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital on Monday.
Kate and William, 35, tied the knot in April 2011. The couple welcomed George, now 4, in July 2013 and Charlotte, who turns 3 next week, in May 2015.
