Like mother, like daughter! Joelle “JoJo” Fletcher celebrated her shocking new Bachelorette gig by … chugging wine, naturally. The Bachelor runner-up drank with her parents, Soraya and Joseph, backstage during After the Final Rose on Monday, March 14.
“Of course JoJo and her family celebrated tonight!!! #TheBachelorette,” Robert Mills, head of ABC alternative programming, captioned. The real estate developer sat between her parents for the hilarious snapshot.
Fletcher’s wine-loving mom has cracked up audiences before. During JoJo’s hometown date in Dallas, Soraya drank straight from the bottle while JoJo’s older brothers Matt and Ben grew more and more critical of Ben Higgins‘ intentions.

“Mom drinking straight from the bottle….. I get it,” JoJo tweeted when the episode aired last month. “#stressed #TheBachelor.”
Before popping the cork on Monday, Fletcher was met with a round of applause when host Chris Harrison announced her as the next Bachelorette. Bachelor Nation fans and fellow stars were also excited to hear the news. Season 18 Bachelor Juan Pablo Galavis even teased that he would love to compete for a rose.
“I have READ so MANY good things about JoJo in the past WEEKS that if she is the NEXT bachelorette, I MIGHT have to sign up AGAIN…” he tweeted on Monday night. “I am #TeamJoJo and I have only SEEN her in like 20 pictures on my TWITTER… #SheCute.”
Nick Viall, meanwhile, vowed to stay away from the franchise — for now. The Milwaukee native was a runner-up in both Andi Dorfman‘s and Kaitlyn Bristowe‘s seasons.
“My search for love continues, but no longer includes group dates. Jojo’s 25 new boy friends can rest easy #TheBachelor #TheBachelorette,” he joked.
Arie Luyendyk Jr. wasn’t as amused. Emily Maynard‘s runner-up teased that Fletcher’s last-minute Bachelorette decision “seems to be a trend.” As previously reported, Higgins’ ex Caila Quinn was chosen to be the next leading lady. Luyendyk Jr. was in the same boat in 2014 when Chris Soules won the Bachelor title over him.
