It was a Game of Thrones romance made real life official. Rose Leslie, who played Ygritte on the HBO series, married Kit Harington, who plays our hero Jon Snow, on Saturday, June 23, at Wardhill Castle in Aberdeenshire, Scotland — and of course, she looked every bit like a Queen of the North.
For her big day, Leslie chose a regal Elie Saab Bridal gown worth around $20,000 to say “I do” with her former co-star, and looked absolutely stunning for the occasion. The long-sleeved tulle gown had a soft mermaid silhouette, an elegant illusion neckline and open back and was fully embroidered with silk threads and guipure lace. Adding to the romantic elegance was an Elie Saab signature belted waist and matching veil.
Adding a touch of low-key elegance to her look, Leslie also wore a crown of flowers under her veil, pulling her signature red bob (worn wavy) back from her face to show off her bridal glow. The finishing touches included simple satin slippers and a small ivory bouquet, which added beautiful details to an already sophisticated and timeless look.
The couple reportedly met on set of the cult-favorite show, where they played out an ill-fated love story. This oone, thankfully, has a much happier ending.
Leslie isn’t the first celebrity to wear a more modest wedding dress, either. Just last month, Meghan Markle married Prince Harry in a understated Givenchy Haute Couture gown with long-sleeves and a boatneck. And, before that Kate Middleton also rocked a modestly cut Alexander McQueen wedding gown for her 2011 nuptials. Clearly, the chaste and demure wedding gown trend is going strong.
