Taking a cue from the younger generation! Queen Elizabeth II stole a page out of Kate Middleton’s style playbook on Wednesday, June 22, in Liverpool, England.
The longest reigning British monarch, 90, recycled an entire outfit that she wore to the 2013 Royal Ascot while visiting a hospital with her husband of 68 years, Prince Philip.
Ever a lover of vibrant ensembles (she chose a lime green coat and hat on her birthday, in April), the queen looked radiant in a pale pink coat by Stewart Parvin and matching hat with a floral design by Angela Kelly. Beneath the button-down topper, Her Majesty donned a long-sleeved floral dress, also by Stewart Parvin, which she paired with her signature loafers and black Launer London handbag (the only difference from her 2013 outfit, below, in which she instead chose a one-strap handbag by the same designer).
The grandmother of Prince William and Prince Harry has more than 200 of the designer purses in her wheelhouse, according to the brand’s CEO, Gerald Bodmer. “It’s amazing how they last,” he told the Daily Mail of the design. “They’re structured; that’s our strength.”
Queen Elizabeth is reportedly particular when it comes to her bags. Bodmer said that she “likes her black patent,” and asks for longer handles so that she can shake hands effectively. Sometimes the company will replace suede lining with silk, but it will never add a zipper since the clasp design allows her to open the purse easily.
