The ceremony marked the end of the UK’s 13-year combat operations in Afghanistan. It was attended not only by the royals, but also by the families of those lost in the war, as well as veterans.
During the service the Reverend Dr. David Ison thanked the country’s commitment to the troops, then prayed for the citizens of Afghanistan and offered this speech: “We remember those who have been injured in body, mind, and spirit and we pray for their continued well-being and for those who especially support them.”
