Sure, yoga pants and crop tops have come to hold a prominent place in our wardrobe whether we are hitting the gym or not, but celeb fave activewear brand Outdoor Voices (the line behind those colorblock leggings and bra tops you’ve seen on Lena Dunham, Olivia Culpo, Chloe Grace Moretz and others) is here with a new summer silhouette that we honestly never saw coming: the Exercise Dress.
No longer just for the tennis court, cool-girl OV founder Tyler Haney and her team have a developed a stretchy frock that is built to survive everything from brunch to bike rides with ease because you can, apparently, workout in a dress.
Made from the brand’s beloved lightweight, four-way stretch (read: super flattering) material, the mid-thigh-length design has a scoopy (but not overly revealing) neckline and strappy back. And because the Austin-based company is all about form and function, the dress includes a swimsuit-like “leotard liner” made of a silky-smooth Italian fabric for added coverage and support.
Layered with a sports bra for a jog or styled with a denim jacket and sandals for a leisurely afternoon, the $98 design launched with three versatile colors. A classic navy hue will be available year-round, while fun seasonal shades will be added to the mix. Right now, those limited-edition colorways include a patterned ink scrawl that could easily transition from pre- to post-workout and even day-to-night and summery pink-purple.
While the idea of exercising in a dress may take a bit of getting used to, we are all for wearing a sweat-wicking dress that is actually cute on hot and humid summer days!
