Keeping it short and sweet! Nicole Richie once again proved to be on trend when she made the decision to chop her long locks into a chic, shoulder-length bob, a la model Karlie Kloss. (Kloss' chin-length style, created by Garren Defazio, was recently called "the haircut of the year" by The New York Times.)
The 31-year-old Winter Kate designer showed off her new 'do in a picture posted to Instagram on Jan. 22. Captioned "B.O.B.," the shot shows the Fashion Star mentor mid-haircut, her formerly flowing tresses shorn into short, piecey layers. "Take it off, Andels," she wrote alongside another, similar photo, referring to celeb stylist Andy Lecompte, who has worked with Katie Holmes, Lindsay Lohan, Reese Witherspoon, Kristen Stewart, Kim Kardashian, Selena Gomez, and others.
The style icon's sophisticated coiffure — nicknamed "the Karlie" by some, after trendsetter Kloss — has been taking the fashion world by storm in recent weeks. "I'm so tired of the soft wave, red carpet hair," Defazio told the Times of the look, which has also been seen on Meryl Streep's daughter Mamie Gummer. "Like dead straight hair, wavy hair got old. Some of the other models are taking their hair above their shoulders and in the salon, women are taking their hair to collarbone and above. It's a natural look."
Richie — mom to daughter Harlow, 4, and son Sparrow, 3, with husband Joel Madden, 33 — has been known to experiment with different colors and cuts. Last summer, she dip-dyed her blonde locks a bright fuschia color.
