As with overalls, crop tops and scrunchies, denim-on-denim is the latest retro style to make a comeback!
PHOTOS: Who wore it best — styles from then and now
Miranda Kerr rocked a modern take on the ’90s trend on July 21 in New York City. The Australian supermodel, 31, wore the 7 for All Mankind Hidden Placket button down in Medium Rich Indigo with the brand’s Super High Waist Skinny in Super Heritage Stretch wash. She kept the accessories to a minimum except for leopard ankle-toe heels.
Kim Kardashian and Emily Blunt have also successfully pulled off the bluesy look. Kardashian, 33, paired a Balmain top and Mother Denim jeans while in Paris on April 30.
Meanwhile, Blunt, 31, chose a lighter chambray shirt paired with dark, distressed Mother Denim jeans while in Beverly Hills on April 4.
To try the trend, mix denim fabrics and weights to avoid a denim disaster. Opt for a loose chambray shirt with fitted jeans a la Kerr. Or, for more of a contrast, pair a pale blue shirt with indigo jeans, like Blunt did.
