Drooling over Mindy Kaling‘s fashions as seen on the Oct. 7 episode, “I Slipped,” of The Mindy Project? The show’s costume designer, Salvador Perez, spills all the details of Dr. Lahiri’s statement looks just for Us Weekly.
In true Mindy style, the good doctor mixes prints in shades of gray and black, including the on-trend fall blazer in houndstooth. “This is a great representation of my design aesthetic,” Perez tells Us. “It’s four patterns and textures you wouldn’t normally put together: a houndstooth Theory blazer, a paisley Equipment blouse, a plaid skirt by Alice + Olivia, and lace-trimmed boots by Karen Millen.”
For extra pizzazz, Perez threw in a necklace and ring by XIV Karats and earrings from BaubleBar.
“Mindy isn’t usually a fan of wrap dresses, but she loved this black chain-print dress by Diane von Furstenberg because it was so different,” Perez tells Us of the frock paired with Salvatore Ferragamo pumps. “The pattern inspired me to add a chain necklace by Crislu and bold Rachel Roy earrings to stand out against her black hair and the dark dress.”
