Meghan Markle isn’t just a fan of a clean line and a classic silhouette — the Duchess of Sussex likes ethical responsibility in her fashion choices too. The mom-to-be embarked on a 16 day official tour of Australia, where she has not only debuted her baby bump but also her penchant for sustainable and environmentally friendly clothing and shoes, an admirable gesture considering that fashion is one of the highest polluting industries worldwide.

It all started with footwear for Markle, who first swapped out of her Stuart Weitzman Pumps on her baby-bump debut day (October 16), and slide her toes into a pair of black Rothy’s skimmers. The $145 classic and comfortable flats that have an eco-friendly carbon-free rubber sole and are made of 100% repurposed post-consumer plastic water bottles. Then, a few days later while attending an Invictus Games event with Prince Harry, she sported a pair of Veja’s Esplar sneakers. The kicks, much like her skimmer flats, are made from sustainable materials.
But her love of sustainability doesn’t end at footwear — she also wore a pair of $200 Outland Denim for an appearance in Dubbo, Australia on October 17. The icing on the cake: not only are the jeans sustainable and made of organic cotton, but the label also provides jobs and skills training from women in Cambodia with every purchase.
And then in the granddaddy of all fashion powerhouse moves, Markle also rocked millennial-loved sustainable contemporary fashion label Reformation. She donned the Pineapple striped linen dress (now sold-out, but fear not, there’s a waitlist!) to the Kingfisher resort in Fraser Island on October 21.
