It's official: Kerry Washington is a fashion icon. After years in the biz, the 36-year-old Scandal actress landed her first major fashion magazine cover for ELLE's June issue — and looks amazing on it.
For her fashion cover debut, Washington poses in a cropped gray cardigan and sexy gray bodysuit that shows off her stunning slim figure. The Django Unchained actress flaunts her full red lips by giving the camera a seductive pout.
Washington tells the magazine that growing up she thought she'd pursue a career as a "clinical psychologist," and never dreamt of becoming a TV and movie star. "I was not that girl," she says. "I was a kooky theater kid, silly and goofy and academic."
But she feels very blessed for her success. "I'm the luckiest broad in Hollywood now," she shares. "To be the lead actor on Scandal and to be in the highest-earning [Quentin] Tarantino movie — I don't get to ask for more."
And, to her surprise, she even enjoys the work that goes into getting red-carpet ready. "I found out I enjoy the process," Washington admits. "All these people show up at my house, they all have kits, someone has dresses. And it's like, Let's have fun. It's not all about me. We're able to create stories on the red carpet."
