She’s just missing a corsage! Keri Russell said what we were all thinking about the 68th Annual Emmy Awards held at Microsoft Theater in L.A. on Sunday, September 18.
When Us Weekly asked her whether the event was a work night or a date night with longtime boyfriend and costar Matthew Rhys, The Americans actress, 40, simply responded, “Adult prom!”
She has a point: There’s the whole-day hair and makeup prep, arrivals in stretch limos, and, of course, everyone’s in formal attire. Russell was a fan of her own Stephane Rolland gown (paired with a Rubeus Milano clutch), which featured an exaggerated, semi-sheer train. “It has a good back,” she told Us at the Governors Ball afterparty.
But the best part of the entire night was her FX show being recognized, “[I love] that we got nominated!” she shared. “Just being here and celebrating, that was really great.”
The Felicity alum isn’t the only celeb who equates red carpets with the high school milestone. In May, Elle Fanning noted that the Cannes International Film Festival was serving as her surrogate prom night. The 18-year-old actress’ date even flew to France to help her recreate the pivotal moment, complete with a classic prom photo.
“💐 Reliving my Senior Prom!” Fanning captioned the shot via Instagram. “Thank you, @basquitwat for flying out since I could not be home and making our prom night one to remember forever! #ProminCannes #PromontheRedCarpet.”
