Whether she’s rocking a tiny bikini or sexy short-shorts, Julianne Hough‘s California cool summer style is always crush-worthy. “My style is ever-evolving. It’s fun to play and take risks,” the dancer and actress — who recently launched her own shoe line — tells Us Weekly. “I’m starting to wear more fun colors and different styles.”
Fashion risk-taker Hough — named by Us readers as their Celebrity Style Crush for the week of May 20 — may feel like she’s out of her comfort zone, but judging by a few recent ensembles, her added edge has paid off. Normally a fan of neutrals and solid color wardrobe staples like tank tops, Hough jazzed up basic jean cutoff shorts for an outing in L.A. with a tribal-inspired printed tee. On the dancer’s feet? Pink and gold T-strap Addy flats from her own Sole Society collection. “I’ve always been a shoe girl,” explains the newly-minted footwear designer.
Playing up the black and white trend wearing a white fit and flare cocktail dress with black piping at Mariska Hargitay’s 2013 Joyful Heart Foundation Gala in New York City, Hough wore her own Lindell black heels to the May 9 event. “Shoes are all-important — a big statement on personality,” she tells Us.
In the time since her March 2013 split from Ryan Seacrest, Hough has certainly showed her personality through her clothing choices, making sure to always add a bit of unexpected flair to her ensembles. Some of her favorite accessories? Ankle boots, straw hats, sunglasses and even a leather jacket. Admits Hough, who calls her style feminine and flowy: “I’ve been able to step out of the comfort zone a little bit.”
