A Hollywood hairdo for you too! Gugu Mbatha-Raw rocked a seriously sleek ponytail with a little red dress at the West Hollywood premiere of her new film, Free State of Jones. The actress, 33, sported classic hair that let the dress (and her gorgeous features) shine. Mbatha-Raw, who wore an embellished Jenny Packham frock with three front cutouts, worked with celebrity hairstylist Richard Collins to achieve her look. “Gugu’s dress was very sweet, so I didn’t want the hair to look girlie and young,” the Schwarzkopf Ultime celeb hairstylist tells Us Weekly. “We decided on a ponytail to be a little more sleek and edgy.”
Collins began by applying Schwarzkopf Styliste Ultime Satin Frizz Control Straightening Spray to her damp hair, then straightened it with a small flatiron. Schwarzkopf Styliste Ultime Amino-Q Hold Gel prevented any flyaways. After creating a side part and low ponytail, he hid the elastic by wrapping a piece of hair around it. Collins finished the ponytail with Schwarzkopf Styliste Ultime Crystal Shine Hair Spray for hold and radiance.

“A ponytail is always red carpet worthy for sure!” he explained. “Sometimes less is more with hair. In this case, for me, it was more about the dress and keeping the hair elegant.”
