The Beyhive goes hard, even on the red carpet! Laverne Cox, who’s made her love for Beyoncé known (#neverforget her 2014 Christmas card from the Queen!), fangirled like crazy on the 2016 Emmy red carpet in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 18.
“People have been asking me who I’m excited to see tonight, and Beyoncé’s actually nominated in that category for Lemonade,” the Orange Is the New Black star, who’s presenting the award for Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special at the ceremony, told E!’s Giuliana Rancic before the show. “There’s a slight chance that Beyoncé wins, and I could be giving her her first Emmy.”
Rancic, 42, asked Cox, 32, what she’d do if she had one moment with Bey. A kiss? A hug? A genius combination of both? “I don’t know! I’m going to let her take the lead because she’s Queen Bey,” Cox, who just channeled the “Hold Up” singer in Cosmopolitan’s October 2016 issue in which she payed homage to her heroes, replied. “You must let the diva take the lead!”
And it seems like Cox, who has a role in Fox’s upcoming The Rocky Horror Picture Show, took Beyoncé’s lead with her red carpet look. She donned a plunging gold Naeem Khan gown along with glittering Butani and Hearts on Fire diamond earrings, Hearts on Fire, Mattia Cielo and Carrera y Carrera diamond rings and a jewel Atelier Swarovski gold leather wrapped Cosmic clutch. Celebrity hairstylist Kiyah Wright assembled Cox’s blonde hair in ’40s-inspired soft, romantic sideswept waves.
Beyoncé, 35, sported a similar look in 2005. The Lemonade singer looked flawless in a Randi Rahm chiffon gown with beads and lace. Like Cox, she wore her hair in soft face-framing waves.
