Ch-ch-ch-changes! Celebs like Maisie Williams, Emilia Clarke and more debuted brand-new hair makeovers during the 68th annual Emmy Awards at the Microsoft Theater in L.A. on Sunday, September 18.
Williams, 19, known for playing feisty Arya Stark on Game of Thrones, hit the red carpet with a fresh new set of fringe. Celebrity hairstylist Ryan Richman, who used faux bangs to get the edgy look, polished off her style with a textured topknot. The result was a refreshed retro style that worked perfectly with her Mod-era green eyeshadow, done by celebrity makeup artist Kindra Mann.
“Exciting things happening over here 💚,” Mann shared via Instagram ahead of Williams’ appearance in a tea-length Markus Lupfer dress.
But she wasn’t the only GoT cast member to switch things up. Clarke, a.k.a. Khaleesi, walked the carpet in Atelier Versace with brand-new brassy highlights that replaced her previous beachy, ombre style. The lighter strands were visible in her low chignon updo. “EMMY EMMY EMMY EMMMYYYYYYSSSSS!!!!!!!!! Getting my FUNK ON! Thanks to the ever incredible team of my dreams @hairbyadir @kateleemakeup @petraflannery @versace_official BOOOM!!!!” the Me Before You actress, 29, who previously sported rich chestnut-colored locks, captioned an Instagram video of herself dancing in her limo while thanking her glam squad. “#getthemshouldersboogingbaby.”
UnREAL’s Constance Zimmer also hit the step and repeat, in a pink and white Monique Lhuillier gown, with a tress transformation. She ditched her easy, breezy shoulder-grazing angular lob for an Anna Wintour–esque chin-length chop with blunt bangs. “I just wanted to show up and not look how I did for the couple of weeks at events,” Zimmer, 45, noted during her E! Live From the Red Carpet arrival interview.
To keep the ’do looking smooth and straight all night long, celebrity hairstylist Ashley Streicher applied Goldwell Kerasilk Control Rich Protective Oil ($32, goldwell.com) from the middle of Zimmer’s strands to the ends. Next, she singled out sections to blow-dry or flatiron, which added texture and depth. After securing the style with hairspray, Streicher finished up by adding shine to the tips of her tresses with Goldwell Stylesign Spun Shine Cream ($19, goldwell.com).
