Someone could’ve used an ultralight beam.
Anna Wintour made time in her jam-packed schedule to stop by Kanye West’s Yeezy Season 3 show on February 11. Naturally, the noted editor in chief of Vogue, 66, had other shows to attend — it was New York Fashion Week, after all!
“After about 45 minutes, I did happen to notice that Jay Z had slid away,” she told Seth Meyers on his April 12 show. “So I thought maybe I could sneak out after him without anybody noticing.”
But when she left, she took a wrong turn — and ended up a long way from the runway.
“I slid into the basement of Madison Square Garden,” the mom of Bee Shaffer (who works for Seth Meyers!) admitted. “I was lost there for half an hour, asking various people to let me out … I was really in tears!”
Though most of the world knows Wintour’s name (as well as her signature bob and ever-present sunglasses), there’s one person who didn’t — and he ended up saving her!
“This security guard came up to me and said ‘Did your son play baseball for Collegiate?’” she recalled (and she answered “yes,” for the record).
Meyers, 42, joked that Wintour’s MSG mishap was her own doing: “I don’t wear sunglasses at night, so I see exit signs!”
