Well, this gives new meaning to the term “bodybuilder.” The first trailer for Guy Ritchie‘s upcoming Victor Frankenstein movie is finally here — and let’s just say it’s not the story you remember from your English lit class.
The film, starring James McAvoy in the title role and Daniel Radcliffe as his sidekick Igor, “is a very new twist on a kind of legendary tale,” the Harry Potter star says in an intro for the teaser.
Indeed, while it’s based on Mary Shelley’s classic novel from the 1800s, Ritchie’s Frankenstein is part horror and part action-adventure, with a touch of buddy comedy thrown in for good measure. (Not unlike the filmmaker’s take on Sherlock Holmes in 2009.)
“Igor, you and I shall be the very heart of scientific enterprise that will change the world,” McAvoy says at the beginning of the trailer. “We shall create life out of death.”
From there, it’s just one thrill after another — as Radcliffe’s Igor describes it, “being electrocuted, chased by monsters, and hunted by the police.”
“Well, if you’re going to concentrate on the dark side,” McAvoy’s Frankenstein quips in response.
Watch the trailer above! Victor Frankenstein is due out on Nov. 25, and also stars Jessica Brown Findlay, Andrew Scott, and Freddie Fox.
