The hour-long special, airing Wednesday, December 28, follows five children who have spent years amassing large and unusual collections. Among the kids appearing on the show are Reese, an 11-year-old from North Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, who owns a huge assortment of electric fans, and Shelby, a 10-year-old from Claremore, Oklahoma, with a cockroach family numbering into the thousands.

The other children are 14-year-old Logan from Sibley, Iowa, who is on the hunt for a rare vacuum cleaner for his collection, and siblings Spike, 12, and Katie, 8, hailing from Carterville, Illinois, who are both competing to nab the world-record amount of fishing lures.

“I own at least 109 vacuum cleaners,” Logan says in the trailer, which is exclusive to Us. “But there is one vacuum I’ve been looking for for about a year now.”

Reese is similarly enthusiastic about his unusual pastime of choice. “I’m somewhat obsessed with fans,” he tells the camera.

Meanwhile, Shelby, who is seen in the promo with roaches crawling all over her shirt, tries to explain her affinity for the insect. “I want to teach people about my roaches because they’re not monsters, and they can be really cute and funny,” she says.
