Grab the pinot noir for this one! Tina Fey’s Netflix series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt appears to totally shade Taylor Swift.
The supposed dis goes down in episode 9 of season 2 during a conversation between Kimmy Schmidt (Ellie Kemper) and Titus Andromedon (Tituss Burgess). Titus refuses to let Kimmy shower because he is giving his Barbie dolls perms. Kimmy finally puts her foot down, though, leading Titus to say a very familiar quote.
“You know there’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women,” he quips.
Swift uttered those same words about Fey, 45, and Amy Poehler back in 2013, in response to their jab at the 70th Annual Golden Globes. During the ceremony, the hosts poked fun at Swift’s romantic history and told the singer, 26, to “stay away from Michael J. Fox’s son.” Swift dropped the “special place in hell” line during an interview with Vanity Fair.
The Saturday Night Live alums later responded to Swift’s comment. “Aw, I feel bad if she was upset. I am a feminist and she is a young and talented girl. That being said, I do agree I am going to hell. But for other reasons. Mostly boring tax stuff,” Poehler, 44, joked to The Hollywood Reporter in March 2013. Fey added: “It was just a joke, and I think it was actually a very benign joke.”
Fey appeared to repeat the line at the 2014 Golden Globes too, after Poehler won in the Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series — Comedy or Musical category for her work in Parks and Recreation.
“I just want to say congratulations again to my friend Amy Poehler,” the 30 Rock alum said at the time. “I love you, and there’s a special place in hell for you.”
