It’s about to go down. The outcasts and freaks assemble in the new explosive Suicide Squad trailer, which debuted during the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday, April 10. The government let the criminals roam free, all thanks to Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller.
“Gentleman, ladies, what if Superman had decided to fly down, rip off the roof of the White House, grab the president right out of the Oval Office? Who would have stopped him?” a government official asks in the sneak peek.
Waller replies: “I want to build a team of some very bad people who I think can do some good.… They get caught, we throw them under the bus.”
Cue the Joker’s (Jared Leto) creepy cackle.
With Waller’s permission, Deadshot (Will Smith) and other menacing villains are released from behind bars. They are trained for combat, fight dirty and are fearless — that is, until the Joker arrives.
“You’re sweet-talking me,” he says in one scene. “All of that chitchat is going to get you hurt.”
Suicide Squad also stars Ben Affleck (Batman), Cara Delevingne (Enchantress), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang) and Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn). The adventure fantasy hits theaters on Friday, August 5.
