Stevie Wonder Jokes About Grammys 2016 Winner’s Card in LOL Moment

Playback moment! Stevie Wonder joked about reading a winner’s card at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards at L.A.’s Staples Center on Monday, February 15.

The legendary musician — who went blind shortly after birth — made the packed house laugh out loud as he presented the Song of the Year category.

“Pop it open. Damn. OK, so, all you can’t read this, huh? You can’t read and you can’t read braille!” Wonder, 65, teased while trying to open the envelope alongside a cappella group Pentatonix. “I just have to say before saying the winner that we need to make every single thing accessible to every single person with a disability.”

The star-studded audience applauded Wonder, and soon gave a round of applause for Ed Sheeran, who took home the win for his song “Thinking Out Loud.”

The British singer then took the stage and gave Wonder a shout-out in his acceptance speech. “Honestly, if you would have told my 11-year-old, 5-year-old, any age [self] that I was going to receive an award from Stevie Wonder I would have been shocked,” Sheeran, 24, said.

Wonder was also on hand to pay tribute to his late friend, Earth, Wind & Fire’s Maurice White, who died at the age of 74 earlier this month. Wonder sang “That’s the Way of the World” with Pentatonix.
