Sia, is that you? Australian singer-songwriter Sia got creative during her Jan. 17 performances on Saturday Night Live. The pop singer, 39, who has previously expressed her desire not to become famous, wore thick black lace, which hung off her glasses and covered her face to sing her hits “Chandelier” and “Elastic Heart.”
While she sang “Chandelier,” a mime performed sign language next to her, and during “Elastic Heart,” Dance Moms star Maddie Ziegler and another female dancer did an interpretive dance around her.
Ziegler appeared in the music videos for both “Chandelier” and “Elastic Heart.” Her performance alongside actor Shia LaBeouf in “Elastic Heart” raised complaints that the choreography resembled pedophilia, which Sia responded to on Twitter.
“I anticipated some ‘pedophelia!!!’ Cries for this video,” she tweeted earlier this month. “All I can say is Maddie and Shia are two of the only actors I felt could play these two warring ‘sia’ self states.”
