It’s the great pumpkin, Shailene Woodley! The White Bird in a Blizzard star, 22, stopped by The Tonight Show on Wednesday, Oct. 15, and spent some time with Jimmy Fallon and an unexpected seasonal gourd.
Fallon, 40, asked Woodley to participate in a game that he called “Pumpkin Time Bomb.” The two stars took the stage, standing on either side of a ripe pumpkin that was covered with rubber bands.
“Since Halloween is around the corner, we thought we’d play a new game called Pumpkin Time Bomb,” Fallon explained. “It’s a simple game. Shailene and I will place rubber bands around this pumpkin until it explodes.”
Woodley and Fallon then did just that, working together to place the bands around the pumpkin as the pressure grew. Putting goggles on to protect their eyes, the two chatted as they played the game, discussing their favorite Halloween costumes, thoughts on trick-or-treating, and opinions about ghosts.
The pair finally achieved success, producing a slow motion-worthy explosion of pumpkin insides.
The Fault in Our Stars actress didn’t just appear on Tonight to do some fruit experiments, though. She also spoke to Fallon about her new movie and taught the funnyman how to do “goth” dance moves.
In the upcoming thriller White Bird in a Blizzard, Woodley plays a young woman named Kat Connors, whom she describes as a “little bit” of a goth. In one scene, her character goes to a goth club, requiring the actress to pick up some goth dance moves.
Woodley put said moves on display, teaching Fallon her two skills of “clearing the cobwebs” armwork and “stepping over the dead bodies” footwork.
