When American Idol's executive producer Nigel Lythgoe told UsMagazine.com season 10 was the female contestants' time to shine, he was right.
Case in point: Thursday's New Orleans singer Paris Tassin, who performed a cover of Carrie Underwood's "Temporary Home" that moved judge Jennifer Lopez to tears.
The mother of a special needs daughter, Tassin, 23, says the lyrics of Underwood's hit were especially significant to her.
"When you sang, I really felt it," Lopez (who has 2-year-old twins with singer Marc Anthony) told Tassin. "I knew [the song] meant something to you."
Tassin told the judges her daughter, born with hydrocephalus, inspires her to sing.
"I [sing] for my daughter, because I want to teach her to go for your dreams, do everything you want to do in your life and be happy," the contestant said.

Idol airs Wednesday and Thursday at 8 p.m. (EST) on Fox.
