Mr. Darcy or Mr. Daddy? Colin Firth was spotted filming scenes with Renee Zellweger for the upcoming sequel Bridget Jones’s Baby on Tuesday, Oct. 13. The pair, who played lovebirds Mark Darcy and Bridget Jones, respectively, in the first two films, were running lines on a street in London.
Zellweger, 46, was once again sporting a fake baby bump as Bridget, and as the scene progressed, it looked like she either collapsed or went into labor with Firth, 55, as Darcy by her side.
The plot details for the third Bridget Jones film remain vague. It will be the first movie that is not a direct adaptation of one of author Helen Fielding’s best-selling novels.
Fielding upset many fans with the 2013 release of Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, when she (spoiler alert) killed off Mark Darcy at the beginning of the novel. It’s unclear if the leading man will survive in the film, or if his scenes are all in flashback format.
In the second film, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, Bridget and Mark had a brief pregnancy scare before splitting up. The couple reunited at the end of the film.
Though Zellweger’s other love interest Hugh Grant will not star in the third installment, Grey’s Anatomy alum Patrick Dempsey is set to appear in an unknown role.
On Sept. 23, the actor Instagrammed a photo of himself on set, writing, “Nice to be working in England. Renee and Colin are an absolute joy to work with! A good couple of days rehearsing at Pinewood Studios. I really like it here!”
