Even getting out of bed is an adventure for Pee-wee Herman! The teaser trailer for the upcoming Netflix film Pee-wee’s Big Holiday was released on Tuesday, January 19, and shows the bow tie aficionado’s complicated method for leaving the house.
In the promo for the March release, Herman, played by Paul Reubens, wakes up and is automatically tossed into his living room. From there, a helium balloon propels him through the ceiling to the roof, where a pair of skies await. Then again, who doesn’t start their day by skiing down the roof?
The excitement continues for the mechanics-minded Herman, who whips out his camera in the middle of his drive.
“A traffic light, just like I’ve seen in National Geographic!” he remarks.
Herman is comedian Reubens’ signature creation, popularized in such films as 1985’s Pee-wee’s Big Adventure — marking Tim Burton‘s directorial debut — the CBS Saturday morning series Pee-wee’s Playhouse (1986-1990) and a Broadway show that debuted in 2010.
Pee-wee’s Big Holiday was directed by John Lee, who has helmed episodes of Comedy Central’s Inside Amy Schumer, and costars Joe Manganiello (Magic Mike XXL), Jessica Pohly (Stalker), Alia Shawkat (Arrested Development) and Stephanie Beatriz (Brooklyn Nine-Nine).
Centering on the title character taking his first-ever vacation, the film will be released on Netflix on March 18.
