O.J. Simpson Contemplates Suicide in Kim Kardashian’s Childhood Bedroom in ‘American Crime Story’ Promo

It’s getting intense. A new promo from the upcoming American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson shows one scene with Cuba Gooding Jr. as O.J. Simpson contemplating suicide in Kim Kardashian‘s childhood bedroom.

The moment, based on a real-life event, shows Gooding sobbing and holding a gun to his head in the corner of the room. “Do not kill yourself in Kimmy’s bedroom,” David Schwimmer, as the late trial attorney Robert Kardashian, pleads in the promo. “Give me the gun. Give me the gun!”

This past September, American Tragedy: The Uncensored Story of the Simpson Defense author Lawrence Schiller  revealed to ABC News that the breakdown, indeed, took place in the home, and the late Kardashian patriarch played a role in saving his pal’s life.

Simpson, now 68, stood trial following the 1994 murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman, and was defended by Robert during the case. At one point, Schiller said, the dad of Kourtney, Kim, Khloe and Rob walked into his daughter’s bedroom to find Simpson cradling a gun in his hand while holding photos of his children and his wife. The former NFL player shares two kids, Sydney and Justin, with Brown Simpson, and three kids, Jason, Arnelle and Aaren, with ex-wife Marguerite Whitley.

According to Schiller, Simpson made “almost like a suicide tape” in the bedroom and pleaded with listeners to “please, please, please, please leave my kids at peace. I love everybody.”

Kim, then 14, was not in the bedroom when the incident took place. However, her father was able to thwart Simpson’s suicide attempt. In a previously recorded interview, Kris Jenner‘s ex-husband recalled what exactly transpired.

“Then O.J. said, ‘I’m going to kill myself in this room,’ and I said, ‘You can’t. This is my daughter’s bedroom,'” the dad of four told Schiller at the time. “‘My little girl Kim sleeps here. I can’t have my little girl in this bedroom, and every time I come in here, I’m going to see your body lying in this. You can’t do that.'”

American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson begins on FX on Tuesday, February 2. Watch the promo above.
