Jealous? Nick Jonas is mad that his single “Close” didn’t get nominated for a 2016 MTV Video Music Award. The former boy-bander opened up about the snub via Twitter on Tuesday, July 26.
“Disappointed with the fact Close got no love for the #VMAs2016,” he tweeted to his more than 10 million followers after MTV announced the nods for this year’s ceremony.
Jonas, 23, quickly changed his tune, though. “Actually after thinking about it more there are so many amazing things happening in my life and career. 9 out of 10 boxes are checked…,” he wrote. “Won’t let this one thing get to me. I’m feeling so inspired and grateful these days. Gonna focus more on caring less about the small stuff.”
He added: “Everything is awesome.”
The youngest Jonas brother is in good company, though. Taylor Swift was shut out of all categories for this year’s VMAs.
Jonas may not be getting a Moonman, but one of his brothers might. Joe Jonas‘ pop-rock band, DNCE, is nominated for Best New Artist.
“Close” features Tove Lo and is off Nick’s third solo album, Last Year Was Complicated. The Scream Queens actor opened up about his new music in an interview with Billboard magazine last month.
“I’m inspired by everything I see. As I walk down the street there’s always something that’s going to catch my ear or my eye and inspire me in some different way,” he said at the time. “It’s always about being open to receive whatever inspiration comes. It’s not always a song that I know I have to write that moment, maybe it’s just a word or melody that comes to mind and at the perfect moment I can sit down and try to write it.”
