Matt Damon won the award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy at the 2016 Golden Globes on Sunday, January 10.
Damon, 45, was nominated for his role in The Martian.
“Thanks to table 10, right over there,” he told the crowd in his acceptance speech. “I would like to — my kids are watching, so I have to thank my kids, because I told them if I got on TV, I’d definitely say something to them. So, get ready to go to bed. But my wife, thank you, Lucy, for everything.”
He added: “Look, I was here 18 years ago, it has literally been 18 years since I have been here, doing this, and with a little more context, I know how lucky I am and how lucky I am to do this for a living.”
Damon was nominated alongside Christian Bale and Steve Carell for The Big Short, Al Pacino for Danny Collins and Mark Ruffalo for Infinitely Polar Bear.
The 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards were held at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills, and the show was hosted for the fourth time by Ricky Gervais.
