Lost in a “Fantasy” world? There was no isolated vocal track for Mariah Carey’s Friday, Jan. 30 performance at the 2015 Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival, but the pop diva still managed to make us cringe.
On Sunday, Feb. 1, TMZ released a clip of Carey’s painfully obvious lip syncing performance to her 1995 hit single “Fantasy.”
In the video, she tries to recover several times, but after missing entire verses, the Grammy winner seemingly gives up, closing her mouth when the track blasts some of her signature belts and high notes.
This isn’t the first time Carey has been criticized for her “live” performances. She is known for using accompanying vocal tracks, and her humiliating isolated vocals from the Dec. 3 Tree Lighting Ceremony in NYC’s Rockefeller Center, quickly went viral online after it was leaked.
It’s been a tough couple of months for Carey, who is in the middle of a divorce from Nick Cannon after more than six years of marriage.
