‘Little People, Big World’ Recap: Matt and Amy Roloff Spar Over Home Purchase, Failing Salsa Brand

Fans were surely kicking and screaming as they watched from the sidelines while the Roloffs’ lives unfolded on the Tuesday, June 21, episode of Little People, Big World.

Tension Hot Like Salsa

Matt and Amy decided to remain business partners and continue building a salsa brand, despite their impending divorce, which was filed in 2015 and finalized in May 2016. Let’s hope that the taste of their salsa is as fiery as the tension between the soon to be divorcées!

The episode began with a surprising apology from Matt, who had been so harsh with Amy that she stormed out of the restaurant where they were lunching.

Although Amy described Matt’s apology as insincere and as “his true thoughts actually [coming] out,” she ultimately accepted it, declaring, “I believe in the salsa.” The two resolved that they work at different paces…and clearly at different levels of spiciness.

Zach Chases His Goals

In the hopes of giving back to the little people community, Zach Roloff decided to host a charity soccer match to fundraise for dwarfism awareness. One team would be composed of dwarfs, and the other of average-sized people.

Putting together a team of little people was Zach’s first big hurdle, but it was an easy win for him, as he quickly rounded up a skilled team with players from across the country and Canada!

Zach asked his brother, Jeremy Roloff, to be the coach and guest player of the opposing team, composed of local under-16 boys. Jeremy willingly agreed and said, “Anytime I get to play against or with Zach, I’m going to do that.”

Will the Roloff Farm Grow?

Matt became aware that the property bordering the farm to the north was for sale. He immediately discussed the opportunity with Amy, whose initial reaction was skeptical.

She questioned Matt’s intentions of buying the property. Did he really want to expand the farm, or were his intentions, as Amy put it, “just to fit Matt Roloff’s needs because he doesn’t want to live in the double wide?”

However, the two ultimately decided to put a bid on the property after touring with their relator, along with seeking the opinions of Zach and Jeremy. Unfortunately, the owners decided to go with another bid, leaving Matt the most disappointed.

Let the Games Begin!

Zach’s soccer fundraiser all came together, but after all the successful planning, there was one more defender to swerve around before scoring the winning goal: his welcoming speech. Zach admitted that he was very nervous to speak in front of the nearly 200 attendees of the event.

After a painfully long and awkward silence, Zach finally found the courage to welcome everyone to his event, which he said he hoped would be annual.

From that moment onward, the event continued without any hiccups — or in soccer terms, with no yellow or red cards getting pulled!

Leveling the Playing Field

Zach and his fellow little person teammates won the match, with a 9–4 final score. Everyone could not have been in a better mood postmatch. Zach remarked, “The final score definitely surprised me.…It surprised everyone!”

Zach and his family members reflected on not only how important this small victory was but also how important this event was “to even the playing field” for little people worldwide.

Tori, Zach’s wife, said, “I think [Zach] really reached his goal of bringing awareness to [little people]. They can compete just as well as the next person.” Amy, in agreement, declared, “I am just in awe. My kids inspire me.”

Jeremy added, “What a game! It was so cool to see those guys out there honestly dribbling circles around these average [under]-16 players.”
