Lil Wayne's move to Rikers Island has been delayed for a month — thanks to a little dental work.
On Tuesday, the multi-platinum selling rapper was expected to be formally sentenced on a gun possession charge and then shipped off to NYC's Rikers Island prison. Instead, his sentencing has been rescheduled for March 2, the Associated Press reports; the rapper's attorney explained in a Manhattan court that he needed to finish a series of dental surgeries before his year-long prison stay.
In October, Lil Wayne pleaded guilty to illegally carrying a loaded gun on his tour bus in Oct. 2007. Born Dwayne Carter, the hip hop star could spend a year in prison — or eight months if he exhibits good behavior, according to the Associated Press.
Carter, 27, is the father of four children with four different women: 9-year-old daughter Reginae and sons Dwayne Carter III (16 months) plus Lennox and Neal, both born last fall.
The popular Grammy-winner reportedly spent his final night of freedom in a recording studio, and said goodbye to his fans early Tuesday morning in a live streaming video.
"I'm out this b*tch," he said. "To all my fans, my real fans, I really, really, really truly love you. I love you with all of me, for real. I’ll probably be loving everything else because I love you so much. Thank you from the bottom [of my heart]. Do not forget about me 'cause I will forever think about you, and I cannot wait for you to see me again. I'm out.
