Bold effin’ move! Kevin Spacey took the stage inside The Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday, Jan. 11, and casually cursed in the midst of the live telecast of the 72nd Annual Golden Globe Awards.
The Oscar-winning actor, 55, addressed the star-studded crowd after winning the award for Best Actor in a Drama Series for Netflix’s House of Cards. Spacey beat out Clive Owen for The Knick, Liev Schreiber for Ray Donovan, James Spader for The Blacklist, and Dominic West for The Affair.
With drink in hand, the veteran star opened his speech as his House of Cards character, cunning politico Frank Underwood, saying, “This is just the beginning of my revenge.”
Spacey’s speech took a turn for the scandalous when he reflected on his history with the awards show. After previously getting nominated for House of Cards, as well movies like 2010’s Casino Jack, 2004’s Beyond the Sea, and 1999’s American Beauty, the star won his first Golden Globe on Sunday evening where he wore a Hugo Boss tuxedo.
“This is the eighth time I’ve been nominated,” he said. “I can’t f–king believe I won.”
As Spacey’s f-bomb was bleeped out in the telecast, famous faces were shown reacting to his words with mouths agape.
“I jinxed the last 7 #GoldenGlobes noms by showing up, should I sit 8 out in hopes that works?” he tweeted last month. “To better odds! #HouseofCards @RealRobinWright.”
