Have mercy, Lifetime! John Stamos took to Twitter in the early hours of Tuesday, April 28, to weigh in on the network's plans for a Full House movie.
News broke on Monday that Lifetime is developing The Unauthorized Full House Story in a similar style to last year's talked-about, unflattering Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story. The TV movie promises an inside look at the cast of the family sitcom and the young stars' rise to fame.
"Full House TV movie on @lifetimetv ??" Stamos tweeted, linking to a Hollywood Reporter story about Lifetime's plans. "Hmmmm – yeah right, good luck with that."
The 51-year-old hunk, who played Full House's hip Uncle Jesse, commented on the news as hype heats up for Netflix's upcoming reboot of the '90s show, Fuller House. Stamos originally broke the news of the streaming plans, announcing that D.J. Tanner (Candace Cameron Bure) and Kimmy Gibbler (Andrea Barber) will return to the set as well.
Lifetime's Full House flick is not expected to include any of the original television stars, and is being led by the team behind The Unauthorized Saved By the Bell Story. THR reports that the TV movie's Ron McGee will return as a screenwriter, working in conjunction with Front Street Pictures and Ringaling Productions.
Stamos is on a bit of a tear this week, voicing his opinions about Lifetime's production and Fuller House. He took to Twitter on Monday to sound off on another Full House rumor. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, who famously played the series' adorable tot Michelle Tanner, said earlier that they were considering appearing in the reboot, but had little information about the project.
Responding to a tweet reading, "John Stamos apparently forgot to tell the #OlsenTwins about the #FullHouse reunion," Stamos wrote, "I call bulls–t."
