Talk about a dream team! Two of Hollywood's funniest and most well-liked stars, Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Schumer, are coming together on one destined-for-greatness project, the New York Times revealed on Wednesday, Aug. 26.
Lawrence, 25, "casually" broke the news during an interview for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, telling a reporter at the Times that she and Schumer, 34, are co-writing a screenplay for a movie, which they also plan to costar in together.
"We play sisters. We're almost done writing," the American Hustle actress dished. "It just flowed out of us. We've got about 100 pages right now."
According to Lawrence, the two first met a couple of months ago, when the Silver Linings Playbook actress reached out to say she was a fan.
"I emailed her after I saw Trainwreck and said, 'I don't know where to get started. I guess I should just say it: I'm in love with you,'" Lawrence recalled to the Times. "We started emailing, and then emailing turned to texting."
Texting eventually turned to jet-skiing. As documented on Instagram, Lawrence joined the Comedy Central star on an epic water adventure during Schumer's Hamptons getaway with her high school friends.
"I was like, 'Oh, we're going on a boat tomorrow. You should come.' It was kind of a hypothetical," the Trainwreck star told Jon Stewart in early August. "And she was like, 'I think I'm coming.' And I was like, 'Oh my God!'"
Now they're thick as thieves. "Amy and I were creatively made for each other. We have different flavors. It's been the most fun experience of my life," Lawrence raved to the Times. "We start the day off on the phone, laughing. And then we send each other pages. And we crack up."
