It’s time to give thanks for Stars Hollow! Netflix announced the premiere date for Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life‘s four new episodes at the Television Critics Association’s press tour in Los Angeles on Wednesday, July 27. A promo was also released, which is above.
The highly anticipated revival will launch Friday, November 25, which is the day after Thanksgiving — meaning you now have a valid reason to skip the crowded malls on Black Friday. All four 90-minute episodes, each focusing on one of the four seasons — “Winter,” “Spring,” “Summer” and “Fall” — will be available for streaming by Netflix users.
Following months of speculation, Netflix confirmed in January that it is bringing back Gilmore Girls, which ran for seven seasons before signing off in May 2007. Virtually all of the original series’ key cast members are returning, including Lauren Graham (Lorelai Gilmore), Alexis Bledel (Rory Gilmore), Melissa McCarthy (Sookie St. James), Scott Patterson (Luke Danes) and Kelly Bishop (Emily Gilmore).
The new episodes are likely to provide a much-awaited update for fans as to which guy is right for Rory: hometown hunk Dean (Jared Padalecki), book-loving bad boy Jess Mariano (Milo Ventimiglia) or Yale sweetie Logan Huntzberger (Matt Czuchry). (Or none of the above!)
In bad news for fans of Rory and Dean, Padalecki told Us Weekly at the San Diego Comic-Con on Sunday, July 24, that he was only on the set for one day of filming, due to schedule conflicts with his other show, Supernatural.
As for how fans will respond to where Rory’s love life is in the reboot, Padalecki, 34, told Us, “There will always be some fans who are unhappy, but I think they’ll be pleased with it.”
Tell Us: Who should Rory end up with?
Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life premieres globally on Netflix Friday, November 25, at 12:01 a.m. PT.
