Bloodier than ever. The new trailer for season five of Game of Thrones dropped Monday, Mar. 9, and it appears that the upcoming installment of HBO’s smash series will be centered on none other than fan favorite Daenerys Targaryen.
The Mother of Dragons (played by Emilia Clarke) opens the trailer with a speech about the various feuding families vying for the cursed Westeros throne. “Lannister. Baratheon. Stark. Tyrell,” the ousted heiress says. “They’re all just spokes on a wheel.”
The trailer then shows graphic fight scenes between the waging bloodlines, which have already resulted in the deaths of three Stark family members, two Lannisters, two Baratheons, and more (so many more!) to come.
“This one’s on top,” Daenerys reflects in her eloquent, chill-inducing speech. “Then that one’s on top and on and on it spins. Crushing those on the ground.” She pauses and promises: “I’m not going to stop the wheel. I’m going to break the wheel.”
Along with scenes of Daenerys, the trailer also shows Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Stannis Baratheon at the Wall. Cersei (Lena Headey) is still alive and taking part in a religious ceremony, and Sansa (Sophie Turner) is also seen in glimpses.
