The verdict is in! The 2016 Emmy Awards nominations were announced on Thursday, July 14, and Us Weekly covered the minute-by-minute updates on which shows are contending in all the key drama and comedy categories! Some of the shows to receive big nominations were Game of Thrones, The People v. O.J. Simpson and Veep.
Game of Thrones led the way with 23 nominations, followed by People v. O.J.’s 22. HBO garnered 94 nominations, the most of any network.
Black-ish star Anthony Anderson and Gilmore Girls‘ Lauren Graham announced the nominees from the Television Academy’s Saban Media Center at 11:30 a.m. ET on ABC Thursday, and the presentation can be seen in the video above.

The networks and platforms that are primed to score a litany of noms include HBO, with such contenders as Thrones, Veep and Girls; FX, which boasts The Americans, People v. O.J. and Fargo; and Netflix, with House of Cards, Master of None, Orange and Grace and Frankie.

The 2016 Emmy Awards airs on ABC Sunday, September 18, with Jimmy Kimmel returning as host of the ceremony. The talk show host previously led the 2012 Emmys telecast.
“I am excited to be hosting the Emmys again,” Kimmel said in a statement in March.
The 2015 Emmy Awards ceremony was hosted by Andy Samberg. Game of Thrones led the way with a whopping 12 wins, including best drama, while Veep prevailed as best comedy.
