The one who regretted her cameo. Elle Macpherson admitted that she has mixed feelings about guest-starring on Friends for five episodes in 1999.
The Australian supermodel, 52, played Janine Lecroix, a dancer who became Joey Tribbiani’s (Matt LeBlanc) roommate and eventual love interest. “If I’d known how important it was in the U.S. or how long it would be on TV, I may not have chosen to do it,” she told TV Week, according to News.com.au. “It was a lot of pressure if you look at it in the way that it will be around for 20 or 30 years,” she said, adding that the hit NBC show offered to extend her arc, but she turned it down because she was living in London at the time.
The Batman and Robin actress recently revealed that despite her many accomplishments in modeling and several successful business ventures, some people still recognize her for her brief role on the smash sitcom.
“Friends is still very popular where we live in America, and reruns are on constantly,” she told The Western Australian. “[My son and his friends] know me as Janine Lecroix and they are always like, ‘Oh you know, Cy’s mum, she is on Friends.’ They haven’t figured out it was nearly 20 years ago, they still think I am on Friends.”
Macpherson shares sons Aurelius “Cy” Andrea Busson, 13, and Arpad Flynn Alexander Busson, 18, with ex Arpad Busson. She is currently married to billionaire real estate developer Jeffrey Soffer.
