Long live the Crawleys! In a video interview exclusive to Us Weekly, Downton Abbey star Brendan Coyle (John Bates) reveals what fans can expect from the PBS period drama’s sixth and final season.
“It’s really opulent, and it’s very grand, and a lot of loose ends have to be tied up,” the actor, 52, says. “It’s joyous, actually.”
Coyle says he has yet to watch the show’s last two seasons due to his shooting schedule for his new series, Spotless, in which he plays mob boss Nelson Clay. The Esquire drama stars Marc-Andre Grondin as a troubled Londoner who gets mixed up in a world of crime when his brother resurfaces.
“We push the envelope a bit,” Coyle admits of Spotless. “It’s a bit dark — but funny.”
