“I have a couple projects that I’m working on that are really cool, but I will say this. The next project I’ll do, I’ll have a little more control of as far as what my purpose is and making sure the show itself is purposeful,” the former ABC personality, 28, said during a Chat4Good panel with Us Weekly‘s Emily Longeretta on Tuesday, August 11, in which all proceeds went to WorldVision. “I’m very, very excited about that. Sooner rather than later, you’ll see what I’m talking about. I can’t get into it quite yet but I’m definitely not stepping away completely out of TV.”

Underwood first appeared on reality TV when he competed for the affections of Becca Kufrin on The Bachelorette in 2018. The former professional football player was sent home after he finished in fourth place. After his elimination, he was cast in season 5 of Bachelor in Paradise.

He bared his heart again in 2019 on The Bachelor, where he met and fell in love with Cassie Randolph. The pair called it quits on their relationship in May after nearly two years of dating. The Indiana native and Randolph, 25, ended up on tense terms after the graduate student discussed their relationship on The Bachelor — The Greatest Seasons Ever in July. Underwood wrote in an Instagram post at the time that he was disappointed she didn’t handle “things as privately as possible.”

Randolph later claimed that Underwood was attempting to monetize off of their breakup by writing an additional chapter about their relationship for his memoir. A rep for the Bachelorette alum told Us at the time that this was “simply not true.”

The First Time author was recently linked to Lucy Hale in July, but Underwood confirmed that he’s currently flying solo.

“I would consider myself single right now. I’m happily single,” he revealed during the Chat4Good panel. “My next relationship I’m already in and that’s with myself. I’ve decided that I want to spend my energy and focus on all my attention on myself, which I’m actually weirdly loving. It sounds so crazy [and] so weird.”

However, Underwood has thought about what he’s looking for in his next relationship.

“I don’t want to say my exes weren’t this, but I just want somebody who complements and fits into my life seamlessly,” he explained. “I think that’s something that I’m going to be looking for, and I don’t want to feel like it has to be forced or set up or feel like we have to compromise too much. I think, while compromising is very important in a relationship, it’s something that you can only take so much of.”
