Christina Aguilera is going back to basics, this time for MasterClass.com. The Voice coach, 35, is lending her musical expertise to the instructional website — and Us Weekly has an exclusive sneak peek at one of her lessons.
MasterClass.com offers tutorials on topics including acting, writing and performing from experts and artists such as Kevin Spacey, James Patterson, Dustin Hoffman, Serena Williams and Usher. Aguilera will provide voice lessons.
“I teach about pitch, breath control and how to duet with a partner in a song like ‘Say Something,'” the Grammy winner told Us. In the clip above, for example, she provides instruction on how to master vocal slides.
The “Your Body” singer is also back to coaching aspiring singers on The Voice this season. And after nine seasons of male mentors leading contestants to victory, she’s ready to win one for the ladies.
“My team is the one to beat!” she bragged to Us about season 10, which also features returning coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Pharrell Williams. The former Disney star — who has son Max, 8 (with ex Jordan Bratman), and daughter Summer, 18 months (with fiancé Matthew Rutler) — told Us what to expect.
How cutthroat are you this season?
“We are all really competitive. The boys keep trying to steal my singers in the battle rounds! Adam is like a used-car salesman. But I feel confident.”
Do Max and Summer visit the set?
“Yes! Summer is such a people person; she cannot get enough of what’s going on. Max couldn’t care less. If I was the star of American Ninja Warrior, he’d be my biggest fan.”
Any news on your next album?
“I’m taking my time and don’t want to rush. I’m working with really special artists. All I can say is it won’t disappoint.”
