The door is always open! Candace Cameron Bure would be elated if Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen reprised their role as Michelle Tanner on Fuller House. The actress teased the possibility and what’s next in season 2 exclusively with Us Weekly.

“It would be great if they did, but I think the fans can see, too, that the show is so full already,” Cameron Bure, 40, tells Us. “We would love for them to join, but we have a lot to do even if they don’t.”

The Netflix series mainly centers on the lives of D.J. Tanner (Bure), Stephanie Tanner (Jodie Sweetin) and Kimmy Gibbler (Andrea Barber). Still, it was difficult for the show to hide the absence of Danny Tanner’s youngest daughter, Michelle Tanner. The series addressed the elephant in the room in the very first episode, with a joke that Michelle was off building her fashion empire in NYC. Additionally, D.J., Stephanie and Kimmy later left a voice message for Michelle after a night out drinking.

Cameron Bure isn’t sure what the Olsen twins thought about the jabs. “No, I didn’t hear any reaction from them,” she tells Us. “We’re just charging on with what we got and what we have is something pretty great.”

Michelle may not return, but D.J.’s two love interests will. Last season, D.J. was forced to choose between her high school sweetheart Steve Hale (Scott Weinger) and her coworker Matt Harmon (John Brotherton). In the end, she chose to focus on herself.

Steve fans went nuts last month, however, when Brotherton was promoted to a series regular. “I will say that I love both of these guys. I love them personally and I love their characters, too; they are so fun. But Steve is definitely back. I know he didn’t make headlines, but he will be back. So don’t think that the deal is done as far as D.J. and Matt,” the former child star explains to Us.

“D.J. works with Matt at the vet clinic, so that’s a big reason why those two characters will still be involved,” she adds. “The words couldn’t be truer in the script when D.J. was describing the two guys. Matt was new and fresh and it’s exciting to find that new love. And Steve is this snuggly comfort blankie that you never, ever want to leave. So, I don’t know. I love both guys so much. So we will just have to wait and see what the writers come up with. It’s totally in their hands.”

When not gearing up for season 2, Cameron Bure has been busy cohosting The View and teaming up with Unilever for the #RethinkRecycling campaign. The program encourages others to recycle their bathroom empties the same way that they would do away with their kitchen items.

US WEEKLY: What storyline from “Full House” would you love to rehash in “Fuller House” season 2?
CANDACE CAMERON BURE: Somehow we need to get a car to go through the kitchen or the living room or some other kind of machinery, because that was one of my favorite episodes.

US: What do you want to see more of from D.J. next?
CCB: Her just being a mom. In season 1 we wanted all the fans to remember these characters and obviously the three of us women are leading the charge with the show, but “Full House” has always been about family and the kids and growing up. And so we are going to focus a little more on the kids this year and D.J. being a parent.

US: What are three items that fans could find in your “Fuller House” trailer?
CCB: Andrea got us all Starbucks custom cups that all say our characters’ names. So I always have my D.J. coffee cup with me … I have a lot of makeup and my hairdryer and all kinds of stuff because I always want to look good … I always have some wine in my dressing room … because you never know when Andrea is going to need a glass of wine! And we need to just sit after rehearsal and have a glass. It happens a little more often than it should.
