Driving Ms. Spears! Britney Spears and James Corden sing one of her biggest hits and talk about potentially traumatizing childhood moments in The Late Late Show’s trailer for the pair’s upcoming Carpool Karaoke segment.
The promo was released on Tuesday, August 23, and shows them teaming up on her 2003 smash “Toxic,” along with sharing some chitchat about the drive. The full segment airs on the CBS late-night show’s Thursday, August 25, episode.
“Thank you for helping me get to work — this traffic is just gridlocked,” the Emmy-nominated host, 38, quips to his famous passenger, 34.
Corden asks Spears about sons Sean, 10, and Jayden, 9, who she shares with ex-husband Kevin Federline. “They look almost identical,” she reveals about her boys in the clip.
This leads Corden to ask her if they have seen her sexy Las Vegas live show, in which she rocks plenty of revealing outfits. When she says they have, the host replies, “I saw my mum in her underwear once when I was, like, 11.” Spears interjects by calling him “dirty,” but he adds, “I’m not dirty — I can’t shake the image from my brain.”
The segment is part of Spears’ promotional lead-up to the Friday, August 26, release of her upcoming album, Glory. She will also deliver the world premiere performance of her single “Make Me…” at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, August 28.
The “Circus” singer is the latest in a long line of big-name stars to join Corden for his signature bit. Adele, Gwen Stefani and Jennifer Lopez have ridden shotgun for previous iterations.
The Late Late Show airs on CBS weeknights at 12:37 a.m. ET.
