Another twist in the Big Brother house. The CBS show will include a transgender woman named Audrey Middleton in its upcoming season, the network confirmed on Tuesday, June 16.
"Audrey Middleton is a Big Brother super fan who applied online, like many other hopeful Houseguests, and was open about her transition in the application process," CBS tells Us Weekly in a statement.
The statement continues: "It is customary for Big Brother Houseguests to share personal news inside the house, and Audrey plans to discuss her story with the houseguests in her own words during the premiere episode on Wednesday, June 24."
Middleton, 25, is a digital media consultant from Villa Rica, Ga. According to TMZ, Middleton transitioned several years ago. Her family had a tough time at first, but are now very supportive.
Middleton's appearance on Big Brother comes two months after Caitlyn Jenner's gender transition reveal during Diane Sawyer's historic 20/20 special.
The two-night premiere of Season 17 of Big Brother airs on Wednesday, June 24, on CBS at 8 p.m. ET and Thursday, June 25 at 8 p.m. ET. It will then air on Sundays and Wednesdays, with Julie Chen hosting live evictions on Thursdays.
