One of the fantasy suite dates JoJo Fletcher taped for the July 25 episode of The Bachelorette quickly turned into a nightmare. A source reveals in the new issue of Us Weekly that the 25-year-old Dallas real estate developer invited one suitor to join her in the candlelit room at Thailand’s Marriott Resort Hua Hin — but then quickly cut him loose when she realized he’s not The One.
Rather than leave with dignity, the jilted lover became enraged. “He told JoJo he is crushed and accused her of telling him to ‘get the f‑‑k out,’” says a show insider. “JoJo was sobbing. It was very emotional.”
So as not to spoil the outcome, Us is not revealing whether the man in question is smooth former NFL player Jordan Rodgers, charismatic pool company sales rep Robby Hayes, shy medical sales rep Chase McNary or soft-spoken U.S. Army vet Luke Pell.
Fletcher did not expect to break a heart that evening. Earlier that day, the suitor swept Fletcher off her feet — literally — as they frolicked on a beach and spoke wistfully about their relationship. “They reminisced about their journey,” says the insider. “JoJo said she didn’t want the day to end.”
Neither did he. Over glasses of wine in the fantasy suite, the guy gushed to Fletcher about his strong feelings. Fletcher, in turn, bolted from the room! “JoJo excused herself to collect her thoughts,” says the insider. When she returned, according to the source, “she told him her feelings are not in the same place and spending the night wouldn’t change that.”
Scarred from her own experience on The Bachelor — Ben Higgins dumped her after telling her “I love you” — Fletcher was determined not to lead anyone on. “I always reminded myself, ‘Don’t get caught in the moment,’” Fletcher previously told Us. “That’s something I took seriously.”
