Holding back those tears! Adele is beyond grateful for her supporters — and her “man.” The British powerhouse gave a sweet shout-out to her partner, Simon Konecki, during her Live in New York City concert special, which aired on NBC on Monday, December 14.
The “Hello” singer, 27, taped the show last month at Rockefeller Center. She belted out new tracks from her album 25, and specifically teared up before singing her 2011 ballad “Someone Like You.”
“I wanted to write a song that would be my song. And I wanted to write a song that would last forever, whether it would last forever I don’t know. But this is definitely my song,” the 10-time Grammy winner told the audience. “I’m incredibly proud of this song and I want to thank you all for taking my music into your lives. It’s a big ask and I really appreciate it. And I love being a part of your lives.”
But the sweet moment didn’t end there. As her band began to play the first few chords, Adele asked them to stop so that she could give a shout-out to Konecki, 41. (The couple began dating in 2011 and welcomed son Angelo, now 3, in October 2012.)
“Can we just stop one minute? The other thing is that I don’t sing this from the same place anymore. Because now I sing it from an amazing place because of my man who’s here tonight. And I love you,” Adele said, as she pointed to Konecki, who watched from the back. “This is the first show he’s ever seen me do. First show. And I hope you’re enjoying it. And I’m so glad you’re here.”
