Balling or bawling? Villanova University piccolo player Roxanne Chalifoux’s tears made so many fans laugh over the weekend, that Jimmy Fallon invited her to The Tonight Show on Monday, Mar. 23, to play with The Roots.
On Saturday, Mar. 21, Chalifoux was left heartbroken when her NCAA men’s basketball team, the Wildcats, lost to the North Carolina State Wolfpack — but she never quit playing her instrument! The college student was caught crying while playing with her band, which ultimately went viral.
“I’m looking up at the Jumbotron so I saw myself on it,” she recalled to the late-night host about her sad, sad March Madness performance. “All I could think about was that my dad was at the game and I didn’t really want him to see me crying, but then it turned into everyone seeing me crying.”
“Everyone! Everyone in the entire world!” Fallon said, keeling over with laughter. “I love it. You should be emotional!”
“That’s the fun part of sports,” he added. “That’s the fun part about rooting for your school and team. It’s passion.”
