Taylor Swift hoped for the best, but she may have prepared for the worst. Twitter users think that the “Bad Blood” songstress pre-wrote her response to Kim Kardashian posting videos on Snapchat of her phone call with Kanye West about the lyric in his track “Famous.” Watch the video above to hear West and Swift’s now-infamous phone conversation.
Swift, 26, posted a note to Instagram in the early hours of Monday, July 18, accusing the rapper and reality star of “character assassination” and saying she was unaware of the full lyrics. “Where is the video of Kanye telling me he was going to call me ‘that bitch’ in his song? It doesn’t exist because it never happened,” she wrote. “You don’t get to control someone’s emotional response to being called ‘that bitch’ in front of the entire world … He promised to play the song for me, but he never did. While I wanted to be supportive on the phone call, you cannot ‘approve’ a song you haven’t heard.”

Social media users noticed that the screenshot Swift posted of the Notes iPhone app had the word “search” in the top left corner. This means the pop superstar likely searched through her phone’s notes to find that specific message, even though she responded only a few hours after Kardashian initially released the videos. If she had written it as a new note right after the Selfish author posted the Snapchats, the word “notes” would appear there instead.
“That moment you realize that @taylorswift13 had to search for this note … when exactly did you write this Taylor?” one tweeter wrote.
“Big LOL to @taylorswift13 who used the search bar in her notes for her ‘comeback’ response to @KimKardashian,” another Twitter user posted.
Others speculated that Swift wrote a draft as soon as she got word of Kimye’s video clips, took some time to mull it over and then edited it hours or minutes later.
The Grammy winner may have gotten a heads-up about the potential release of the conversation in June when the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star, 35, told GQ that West not only called Swift for approval, but had filmed the phone call. “And then they sent an attorney’s letter like, ‘Don’t you dare do anything with that footage,’ and asking us to destroy it,” Kardashian told the magazine. A rep for Swift told GQ in response, “Taylor heard it for the first time when everyone else did and was humiliated. Kim Kardashian’s claim that Taylor and her team were aware of being recorded is not true.”
